| Do We Really Need to Buy Favors?? |
| Many times people ask me if they need to buy favors. Many of our brides have a budget that they have set and some feel that favors are an extra that can be left out. We disagree with that. Dream Petals often cautions brides that decide to do without that they may offend their guest if they do not offer a "Thank You" gift for attending their special day. Favors NEVER have to be so expensive they put your budget in jeopardy! Just a simple Resin Placecard Frame with roses by Fashioncraft is a special thank you that can be taken home for later use with your guest personal photographs.
One type of practical wedding favor would be a Glass Candle Holder with rose tea light by Fashioncraft. These little wedding favors are less than $1.00 each. For less than $1.00 per guest, you have made someone special to you feel appreciated, like a welcomed guest.
Don't forget the "Thank You". That is where your wedding favors play the most important role. Add a little Thank you card that says something like " Thank you for attending our Special Day". Even if you do not see your guest as they are leaving for the evening...you have said it all on one little card. |
| This is the best idea ever for a BEACH THEMED wedding!! |
| Recently, one of my brides emailed me looking for some unique wedding favors for her beach themed wedding. She was telling me her ideas. I thought this was the best idea and asked if I could share it with you. She said yes, ofcourse.
Here goes... First, we know the beach was her theme. Her and her fiance had gone on a trip to Cancun about a year earlier. This is where he proposed with the ring and all, on the beach. They had decided that since they wanted a large wedding but could not afford to do a destination, they would bring the beach to their home town.
Still wanting an elegant wedding, they decided to dress the reception with the theme in this manner. She found, at a local home decorating store, some large white faux shell containers on a pedestal base. They were about 15" tall. They were perfect for the guest to still see around the centerpieces and still add the height to fill the room. She had her floral designer arrange tall grasses in various colors with a few roses for color.
Around the bottom of the centerpiece, she did small containers sprayed white, that looked like beach buckets filled with colored roses and a small about of the grasses, cut shorter. This is the best part, They had taken clear sheets of hard plastic from the home repair store and sprayed them with a spray adhesive and then added sand. She started in the center and used a deeper blue, representing far out to sea. Then closer to the edge they used a light blue sand. The beach area was just regular sand. All of this was done with elegance and easy clean up!! The majority of the sand was glued down afterall!
She the purchased the Kate Aspen Wedding Favor, Beach Memories Miniature Adirondack chair favor and put a picture of the couple into the back. She then placed them on the table and sprinkled sand around them. She used the tables to seat 8 and used one chair favor per couple, as a take home memory.
She also purchased the Shells by the Sea Authentic Shell Placecard holders by Kate Aspen Wedding Favors for the seating. Since it was a sit down dinner reception, each couple or individuals names was placed on the card that comes with each Kate Aspen Shell Favor.
To add the sparkle of light in the elegant environment, she also purchased the Beach Themed Glass Pail Candles by Fashioncraft Wedding Favors. Again, she put them all over the centers of each table and added some loose sand.
Can you just picture how beautiful this themed wedding was as you walked in with all the fantastic sparkling candles, blue ocean themed favors on those elegant tablescapes? Oh, I almost forgot, the wedding cake done in a shell theme as well. SIMPLY FANTASTIC!! I wish I could have been there to see it! |

Style - Everyone wants it. Many claim to have it. Admittedly few actually do. True style is not something you can purchase, but many equate throwing lots of money around with good taste. You know better. It's more complex than that.
When it comes to your wedding flowers - money and style don't always go hand in hand. In fact, with floral arrangements taking a turn towards modern minimalism it's now easier than ever to create a dazzling décor scheme on a modest budget. So just how can you cut your floral costs without cutting corners? Take advantage of some clever ideas, and design a floral motif for your wedding that is simultaneously stylish and budget friendly:
Have an Intimate Bridal Party
With fewer attendants, your florist will won't have to create as many bouquets or boutonnières - resulting in instant savings that will in no way put a damper on your floral style. If you have a lot of close friends - consider assigning alternative VIP roles - such as ceremony reader.
Shrink the Guest List
Fewer seats at your wedding ceremony means less aisles to decorate; fewer tables at your wedding reception means less floral centerpieces to adorn them. You get the idea...You'll have gorgeous arrangements - just less of them.
Go With The Season
In season wedding flowers are often less expensive and easier to find. For a list of common flowers for each season, visit Elegala.com's seasonal flower guide.
Keep It Simple Sista!
Certain flowers will run up of the cost of your floral budget no matter what season. Ask your florist to review your options with you. One way to make sure that your less expensive flowers look anything but - group a bunch of the same bloom together for a stunning visual effect. Tightly packed daisies can be eye catching.
Consider Alternative Arrangements
Scattered flower petals surrounded by votive candles create an elegant effect without breaking the bank. Or have arrangements featuring grasses, fruits or vegetables - one of our favorite hot trends!
Choose a Naturally Beautiful Location
Expensive decor is hardly necessary when Mother Nature does the work for you! A springtime wedding in a garden hardly needs additional floral arrangements, while an ornate church may be breathtaking on its own. Also consider that many facilities are decorated for the holidays, so holding a December wedding may provide you with gorgeous poinsettias and garland free of cost.
